What is Liposuction?

Liposuction, also known as liposculpture, is an effective surgical process that has become the most popular procedure for removing excess fat deposits. For a number of years cosmetic surgery has been routinely performed round the eyes, nose, chin, cheekbones, breasts and abdomen of many people throughout the world. These procedures have all been continually refined with ever improving results. A heightened sense of confidence and increased self esteem has been enjoyed by hundreds of thousand of patients through the art of cosmetic surgery.

For many others, however treatment for their problems has not been available until 1987 when Dr Jeffrey Klein published his first article describing the tumescent liposuction technique. These are the people who possess a maldistribution of body fat which causes their figures to be misshapen by what are commonly called saddlebags, love handles, pot belly and thunder thighs. Subsequent years have seen continual improvement with the tumescent liposuction technique. Liposuction is now a procedure of exceptional fitness that can be accomplished totally by local anaesthesia.
