Lipoedema is a chronic condition that causes painful, disproportionate fat accumulation in the buttocks, legs, and often arms. It affects 10 to 15% of women, almost always goes undiagnosed for years, and doesn’t respond to diet or exercise.
The Liposuction Institute is one of the few clinics in New Zealand running a structured lipoedema treatment programme. Dr Ron Goedeke has been practising cosmetic medicine since 1997 and performing liposuction since 1998. Liposuction is the only surgical procedure he performs.
He trained in the Klein tumescent technique with leading practitioners and has since incorporated water-assisted liposuction into his practice. Over 2,000 patients have been treated under his care.
Alongside his liposuction work, Dr Ron has 30 years of experience with
bio-identical hormone therapy. He manages the hormonal workup and treatment for lipoedema patients in-clinic, and oversees the hormonal aspects of the broader treatment programme.
