The clinic is currently the only NZ provider offering Renuvion alongside liposuction. The technology was developed in the US and approved by the FDA for general subcutaneous procedures. Dr Ron has been performing the technique since it became available in New Zealand.
Renuvion is used to address skin laxity, the looseness of skin that can remain after fat removal, weight loss, pregnancy, or natural aging. It’s an add-on to liposuction rather than a standalone treatment at this clinic.
Mild to moderate skin laxity in any liposuction treatment area: abdomen, flanks, arms, thighs, knees, chin, and jawline. The technology works particularly well on areas with thin to moderate skin thickness.
Skin elasticity decline in patients aged 40 and over. Standard liposuction relies on the skin’s natural retraction; in older patients with reduced collagen, the skin may not retract fully on its own. Renuvion accelerates and amplifies the retraction.
Post-weight-loss laxity in patients with mild to moderate excess skin who don’t need a more invasive procedure like a tummy tuck or arm lift.
The total cost for a combined liposuction plus Renuvion procedure is the liposuction price plus the Renuvion add-on.
For example: abdomen liposuction ($9,900) plus Renuvion ($3,900) totals $13,800.
Renuvion is added to the liposuction procedure in the same surgical session, through the same small incisions. It doesn’t require additional anaesthetic, a separate recovery period, or more than up to 45 minutes of additional theatre time, depending on the area treated.
After the liposuction is complete, the Renuvion handpiece is inserted through the existing incisions. The handpiece delivers controlled plasma and RF energy in a pattern across the treated area, maintaining the target temperature beneath the skin.
The procedure is performed at a precise temperature (typically 85°C subdermally) controlled by the device. The energy is absorbed by the connective tissue, not by the skin surface, which is why surface burns aren’t a concern when the technique is correctly performed.
The handpiece moves continuously across the treatment area; static contact isn’t safe. Treatment adds up to 45 minutes, depending on the area treated.
For patients with significant skin excess (post-massive weight loss, post-multiple pregnancy), Renuvion may not be enough on its own. A tummy tuck or brachioplasty may be the right answer. We tell you at consultation if that’s the case and refer where appropriate.
The consultation runs about 30 minutes. We assess skin laxity in the area you want treated, discuss whether Renuvion is right for your case, and give you a written quote covering the combined liposuction and Renuvion procedure.
