Dr Ron has been in private practice in New Zealand for 30 years, focused on liposuction and appearance medicine.

Specialisation

Dr Ron’s practice focuses on three areas:
Liposuction
Body contouring with Klein tumescent, water-assisted, and Renuvion-augmented techniques. He performs roughly 200 liposuction procedures per year across cosmetic and lipoedema patients.
Lipoedema treatment

Surgical fat reduction combined with conservative care for women with lipoedema. The Liposuction Institute is one of the few NZ clinics offering structured, staged lipoedema treatment.

Bio-identical hormone therapy
Dr Ron has 30 years of experience in bio-identical hormone therapy and integrates hormonal assessment into both general and lipoedema patient care. Most lipoedema patients show low progesterone on blood panels, which is addressed in-clinic rather than referred out.

Track Record

5L single-session volume cap

Large-volume liposuction (over 5 litres of fat removed in one session) significantly increases the risk of complications including fat embolism, fluid shifts, prolonged recovery, and elevated infection risk. We don’t perform single-session large-volume procedures. Cases requiring more than 5L are staged.

Patient retention and referral

A large proportion of new patients come from direct referral by previous patients. This is the strongest possible vote of confidence in any aesthetic medical practice.

Technique and Approach

Water-Assisted Liposuction (WAL)
Dr Ron introduced WAL to New Zealand in 2011. The technique uses a pulsed water jet to gently dislodge fat from connective tissue, reducing bruising, trauma, and recovery time compared to traditional liposuction.
Klein Tumescent Liposuction
Dr Ron’s main technique for cosmetic liposuction, using thin cannulas.
Renuvion Skin Tightening
The Liposuction Institute is currently the only NZ provider offering Renuvion alongside liposuction. The helium plasma and radiofrequency technology tightens connective tissue under the skin during the same surgical session.
Enhanced Recovery Protocol
Vitamin D optimisation pre-op, intravenous vitamin C during surgery, high-dose vitamin C post-op, and bio-identical hormone support where indicated. The protocol is built around accelerating tissue healing and reducing post-operative inflammation.

Every patient sees Dr Ron at consultation before booking surgery. The consultation runs about 30 minutes, in person at our Albany clinic or via video call.

  • Provides a written quote covering everything included
